Yesterday, Elsa enjoyed a lunch date with two of her favourite little friends, Eammon and Oliver. Eammon's Mum cooked a tasty spaghetti bolognese followed by banana custard for dessert. Then there was time for a long play before returning home for an even longer nap. Dining out can be ever so tiring.
This is a little record of our family's day-to-day adventures in the kitchen, at the sewing machine, at the craft table, in the garden, on the knitting needles...whatever 'small' happenings the day should bring.

LAZY DAYS ARE IMPORTANT TOO
A butterfly Lazy Days Skirt for Elsa, designed by Oliver and S and made by Mama. She loves to 'twill' (read: twirl!) in her new skirt. The ater Elsa's Auntie Fifi also made her a Lazy Days Skirt -I'll post that later.
TO WORK HAUS FRAU!!
Dada was responsible for supplying treats for this weeks 'Biscuit Club'; a Friday tradition at his workplace. Elsa and I made shortbread cookies (recipe courtesy of Auntie Fifi) and cut them out using our 'pancake shaper' from Haus Frau. We won't tell you how they were dressed up once Elsa went to bed - there's always a bit of a lewd weekly theme to the 'Biscuit Club'!

A cotton hat for Milly, the latest addition to our local mums and babies group. The pattern is from Last Minute Kntited Gifts by Purl

BAKING, CUTTING, BAKING...
More baking exploits with the cherub....blueberry muffins at the request of the 'da man' and scones - yummo! Apparently the muffins taste very 'west coast', meaning west coast Canada. That's a compliment in our house. I'm not sure what brought about this enthusastic response, except that we used wholemeal flour and extra cinammon and then there's the blueberries themselves, which are reminiscent of those island summer days. Elsa really enjoyed dusting the uncooked muffins with sugar and nutmeg. I have a feeling that we'll be dusting much of our baking from now on, at least until she discovers her next baking skill!
APRON TOP
I finally finished Elsa's apron top. The pattern came from the book, The Childrens Year. I had some trouble making it reversible and ended up opting to sew it wrong sides together and bind around all the edges.
HEART FOR IT
Hearts, Playdough, Shortbread, Butterflies & Corn
What a busy few days we've had; here are some photos from the 'heart-tree' and cat pez toy that Elsa and I gave Dino for Valentines (lots of last minute sewing!) and the chilli flowers Dino gave me, to our indoor afternoon this warm Tuesday with Elsa enjoying her playdough (thanks Yiayia, the Kool-aid came in handy) and making shortbread with Mama (and feeding it to 'Rosie').
